摘要
The integration of sustainable development into urban transport has become a trend in countries around the world, benefiting cooperation between countries. This study aims to analyze the use of urban transport and the impact on sustainable development in the countries of South America. The methodology used was a systematic literature review to identify the main relevant articles on the topic. The databases searched were Scopus, Web of Science and ScienceDirect, the software Mendeley and VOSviewer were used to manage the references. When researching the urban transport sector in South American countries, the results reveal high levels of CO2 emissions, constant use of fossil fuels and lack of incentives in the use of public transport, these indicators impact on the sustainable development of urban transport in the countries South Americans. Despite this, data show that municipalities such as Montevideo (Uruguay) and Curitiba (Brazil), stand out in the reduction of GHG emissions, with indexes considered examples at the global level. However, the actions of these municipalities cannot proceed in isolation. The creation of a joint agenda by the countries of South America can capitalize and enhance these experiences. It is concluded that the results present trends for the sustainable development of urban transport in South America.
