摘要
Aim of the study was to evaluate results of restorative proctocolectomy, performed over the period 1996-2005 in two institutions. Patients and methods. A total of 27 restorative proctocolectomies have been performed, operated or assisted by the same surgeon (N.E.S.). 13 patients were female and 14 male, age range 17-67 years, on an average 31 years. 7 patients suffered from UC (one had stage III rectal cancer), 20 - from FAP (7 with colorectal cancer: Stage II - 4, Stage III - 3). Results. Operating time on an average was 5,5 hours. In-hospital stay ranged from 11 to 35 days. There was no postoperative mortality. 7 (25,9%) patients developed complications, and 2 (7,4%) were reoperated.. Conclusion. Our experience suggests restorative proctocolectomy to be a safe procedure for the patients with familial adenomatous polyposis and ulcerative colitis.
