摘要
A passage can be defined as a passing way which has commercial spaces on both sides. It has been the most important building type for commercial architecture since the antiquity. In 19th Century, a building type was created by combining passage and housing blocks, for giving an answer to housing and commercial needs of new high density urban areas in Europe. This kind of buildings was built in Istanbul's' most European and high-density site in 19th Century: Beyolu. By the seven buildings, which were selected from 19th Centuries Beyoglu, the "cite" typologies was observed. Than, a conceptual project was designed according to this research. A cite, by its passage, which is "a designed street in the building", is a successful design strategy for building-city connection.
