Non-contacting mechanical seals

Traditional mechanical seals on centrifugal pumps are one of the sources of pollution in Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Petrochemical process plants, since they are not able to offer zero emission control of process fluids. Driven by the need to eliminate these emissions from process plants and to meet increasing demands for seal reliability, John Crane has developed an innovative seal technology for pumps. These new seals utilise a breakthrough gas lubricated, spiral groove non-contacting technology.
