THE ARTS IN EFL COURSEBOOK: A RELEVANT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MULTILETERING AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING

摘要
To understand languages, it is necessary to know and explore their diversity (artistic, corporal and linguistic), constituting their recognition and valorization as "forms of meaning of reality and expression of subjectivities and social and cultural identities" (MEC, 2018, p. 65). This article, therefore, proposes to make considerations about the use of artistic expressions - literature, cinema, cartoon etc., in the context of English language teaching (LI), going beyond the traditional illustrative view of these elements in textbooks and providing multi literacy in the field language teaching. As a starting point for this analysis was chosen the collection Students for Peace, organized by Eduardo Amos and published by Moderna Publishing House (Richmond label) in 2015, in which it was found the presence of artistic expressions presented in the form of activity and / or suggestion for extension / deepening of the content in each of four volumes.
