ROLE PLAY AND DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL COMPETENCES: EXAMPLES IN AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOM

摘要
The objective of this article is to offer a proposal of activities in which the dramatic technique called role play is used so that the university students of the degree in English Studies acquire social competences while practicing their English language skills. The methodology is qualitative-descriptive. The proposal of activities will be presented in order to observe that the different tasks allow integrating the use of the role play with the development of the oral skills and the use of global social topics that contribute to deepen in realities different from their one's own. An anonymous survey was prepared at the end of the semester. The results of the survey indicate that students value positively participation in role plays in the teaching-learning process and consider them to be a relevant dramatic technique to be used in other subjects.
