Overexpression of cyclin D1 in tongue squamous cell carcinoma

Cyclin D1 protein in paraffin embedded tissues from 45 tongue squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) were immunohistochemically examined using anti-cyclin D1 antibody (DCS-6, YLM) and correlated with clinicopathological features of this tumor type. Its overexpression was significantly associated with tumor nodal metastasis, high histologic grade and high invasiveness. Our results suggested that cyclin D1 protein may have a value in evaluation of aggressiveness of tongue SCCs.
