Analysis is presented that shows that the recent paper by Ruskov et al. [Phys. Plasmas 27, 042709, (2020)] has a number of errors. In particular, it is shown that the Mach2 code, as used in the paper, behaves in a number of nonphysical ways. Published under license by AIP Publishing.
