摘要
Well to poorly preserved diatom assemblages recovered from the syn-rift Neogene - Quaternary sediments of the NW Red Sea Coast, Egypt, include 72 taxa, which indicate a fresh-water habitat. Poorly preserved diatom taxa in the sandy matrix of the conglomerate are allochthonous. The presence of a non-marine diatom assemblage in siliciclastics deposits interbedded within marine sediments points to changes in sea-level attributed to tectonic processes.
