Restructuring object-oriented real-time distributed software for pipeline environment

摘要
Distributed objects are increasingly becoming predominant with the widespread use of object-oriented technology. Coupled with object-oriented systems is the heterogeneity of computer systems that are interoperating together to form a large network such as the Internet. Within this distributed heterogeneous environment, objects are the main building blocks that form the communication of the distributed system. In real-time distributed environment, objects must deliver their services within given time constraints. In order to commit to performance constraints, a careful study and analysis of the software design is critical. Therefore, this research work focuses on restructuring distributed Object Oriented software to match the pipeline architecture. This technique provides the designer with a set of alternative solutions and the corresponding resource and communication cost while satisfying the system and computation constraints. The optimal solution that minimizes the system resources and the communication overheads will be also given. A search technique using genetic algorithm is used to scan the search space for the optimal software structure and the set of feasible ones.
