Deformation microstructure of Ni3Al intermetallic compound macroalloyed with Pd

摘要
The deformation microstructure of the intermetallic compound Ni3Al macroalloyed with Pd after compression at room temperature was studied by transmission electron microscopy. The general feature of the dislocation structure of Ni74.5Pd2Al23.5 is similar to that in binary Ni3Al. Dislocations are mostly dissociated into APE-coupled partials. The decrease of APE energy in Ni74.5Pd2Al23.5 (gamma(010) = 102 +/- 11 mJ/m(2) and gamma(111) = 144 +/- 20 mJ/m(2)) is small compared with the binary Ni3Al. In addition, SISFs (superlattice intrinsic stacking faults) are common debris in this alloy. The addition of Pd has no similar effect on SISFs as boron doping.
