摘要
A simple method is proposed for determining the feeding location of a capacitive-coupled metallic chassis antenna based on its maximal achievable radiation efficiency. This maximal efficiency is acquired from modal radiation efficiencies and excitation percentages of the first few characteristic modes of the chassis. For modal efficiencies, the associated radiated power, conductor loss, and even dielectric loss were calculated respectively based on the modal radiated fields, surface current distribution on the chassis, and electric field distribution in the dielectric substrate, if any, all of which are available from the characteristic mode analysis.
