摘要
Quality of service (QoS) is a description or specification of a telecommunication connection that is based on a collection of parameters. The optimisation of QoS leads to the total optimisation of the functionality of services of the cellular networks. The quality of service is a function of several parameters, such as handover algorithms, radio coverage, radio-frequency modelling, quality of transmission systems, interference, frequency planning, channel capacity and base station location. Optimising these parameters is not an easy procedure owing to mutual dependence. This paper deals with the optimisation of QoS in 2.5G and 3G cellular mobile networks by studying two important parameters, the handover algorithms and the quality of transmission systems. Queues and prioritising techniques are implemented for the enhancement of handover algorithms. A transmission system based on RCLED transmitter and polymer/plastic optical fibres (POFs) is proposed to replace existing microwave links, copper cables and fibre optical networks based on silica fibres.
