Factors Influencing Entrepreneurial Intention and the Moderating Role of Entrepreneurship Education: A Conceptual Model

Entrepreneurship is regarded as one of the key economic development strategies to advance a country's economic growth and to sustain its competitiveness in facing the increasing trends of globalization. Entrepreneurship education is then considered one of the key instruments that increase the entrepreneurial attitudes of potential entrepreneurs. Since entrepreneurial intention has been proven to be one of the primary and highest predictors of entrepreneurial behavior, exploring the causes behind students' entrepreneurial intentions should be given special consideration. This paper therefore aims to review factors that influence entrepreneurial intention namely entrepreneurial traits, family background, supportive environment, and entrepreneurship barrier. In addition, it also aims to review the moderating role of entrepreneurship education on the relationship between entrepreneurial traits and entrepreneurial intention. Finally, a conceptual model is proposed based on the review.
