Investigation of necessary conditions for creation and preservation of helical structures,in plasma

The Z-pinches, and theta-pinches are typical structures found in plasma. These pinches are generally unstable. If the pinch is given enough time, helical structures will develop by various mechanisms. One may think of the simplest helical pinch as a combination of both z and theta-pinches; the fields and currents in them have a shape of a screw thread. The goal of this work is to show that cylindrically symmetric stationary solutions are possible in some plasma theory. It was shown that such solutions are included in the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) theory; however, their stability wasn't determined.
