摘要
Introduction: Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) has a general incidence of > 10% in the female population of the Western world. A pessary is a device that is inserted into the vagina to provide support for the pelvic organs. It is used as a conservative treatment to improve prolapse symptoms. Objectives: To evaluate urination among women with pessary and women without pessary. Assess the quality of life of women with POP when using a pessary. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional, descriptive, prospective and comparative study, of an analytical nature. It will consist of analyzing the results of treatment with vaginal pessaries in women with POP. A total of 60 women were chosen as the study sample, 50% were assigned a pessary. The Patient Global Impression (PGI) scale and flujometry were used to assess results. Results: Women who used pessary improved their urination dynamics as the months went by, significant differences are found from 3 months. There is a statistically significant correlation between women's quality of life and mictional dynamics. Conclusions: Conservative treatment with the use of a ring pessary for six months in women with POP presented significant improvements in the domains of quality of life and mictional dynamics. Correlation exists between the improvement of the quality of life and the improvement of urinary dynamics of women with POP in pessary treatment.
