The aim was to evaluate the results of cleft space closure in the dental arch in UCLP children born from 1980 till 1989, with bone graft performed. In 64 UCLP patients bone grafting was performed at the age range from 7(9) till 20(9) (mean 14) years. The results were evaluated retrospectively from the records collected routinely. Primary healing was observed after 58 bone grafting procedures, wound dehiscence and bone loss-in six. Cleft space closure orthodontically was achieved in 37 patients. When the lateral incisor was present the gap was closed orthodontically in all 18 patients. Out of 27 patients with remaining gap in four patients it was closed with implant-supported crowns. Conclusions. Gap closure orthodontically was achieved in 37 out of 64 patients. That rate is low. In part, due to bone grafting performing in permanent dentition in most of these patients. Efforts should be made to perform bone grafting timely and to salvage a lateral incisor when possible.
