摘要：

The three stages of development of system science in China are introduced briefly. They are Cybernetics, System Science, Complex Systems and Complexity Science. As a new science in. the 21st century, the Complexity Science and its methodology, especially the qualitative studies, are discussed. The role of qualitative studies in the researches of complexity science is emphasized. Examples are given to show the ideas.
