The serene revolution: the unfolding of the Glorious Revolution in interior Spain

The revolutionary juntas of 1868 raised demands that aside from their immediate consequences connected with an established tradition of radicalism and even surpass it. At the same time, another more peaceful revolution in the interior provinces was underway. In those places with weak urban networks, such as the provinces of Castilla-La Mancha, the momentum of the revolution was restrained in order to prevent it from surpassing certain limits. This article not only analyzes the discourse of these juntas from a comparative perspective, but it also explores the themes of rupture and stability during this period.
