Compact low-power IR data link for portable EEG systems

摘要
A specific application in-door IR (InfraRed) wireless data transfer link is proposed, featuring very low power consumption, extremely small dimensions and simple electronic design. It is intended for a compact EEG (ElectroEncephaloGraphic) system, with application in motion related brain activity research, long term EEG records, heavily ill people, etc. LEDs (light emitting diodes) are used to send data and photodiodes to receive it. For maximum power savings while maintaining high reliability, a very specific 8-nary pulse-delay coding is used. The control sequences from the base unit are very rear in time to minimize subject irradiation. Possible configurations and the results from the link prototyping are discussed.
