摘要
The International Institute of China, established by Gilbert Reid, advocated the religious dialogue actively in late Qing and early Republic of China. It invited several Hui Muslim scholars to deliver speeches about Islam, such as famous ahong Wang Haoran and others. Many Hui Muslim scholars had good impression to Christianity, so did Gilbert Reid to Islam. The Muslim-Christian dialogues in the Institute were very mild and friendly, even though, some Hui Muslim scholars criticized Gilbert Reid and the International Institute of China.
