Transitive verb: two arguments, someone sees something. Intransitive verb: single argument, someone comes. To say about art-to be art. To say something about art, to write something about art. Art is the predicate. For this we use words. When we write about art, art is the reason, the motive. The word conveys the art. Referential function. When we read about art, it is not the words, it is the art that comes to us. And it comes through the transitivity of the text. And the subject in the predicate, takes art into account. Where do we write, why do we write, what for? By answering each question we will have one or another orientation of the text. Who says, what writes, who sees, who makes a chronicle... focalization of the discourse. Writing of art, implies syntax, grammar and therefore what, how, where, why, why, what for.
