摘要
The challenges of working in ultra deep water have pushed the limits of technology in many areas. One of the limiting factors is the weight of steel wire which negatively affects the cost and schedule of a project in many ways. In the areas of exploration, salvage, and petroleum development, synthetic ropes and cables have proven to be a reliable option to solve difficult technical challenges while reducing project costs, and saving time. This paper will present a review of several Joint Industry Projects on the topic, as well as several public case studies. Finally, the landscape surrounding third party guidelines, standards, and certifications will be presented.
