A new fracture mechanics theory for orthotropic materials like wood

摘要
A new fractnre mechanics theory is derived based on a new orthotropic-isotropic transformation of the Airy stress function, making the derivation of the Wu-mixed mode I-II" fracture criterion possible, based on the failure criterion of a flat elliptic crack. As a result of this derivation, the right fracture energy and theoretical relation between mode I and II stress intensities and energy release rates are obtained. (c) 2006 Elsevicr Ltd.
