摘要
A novel broadband bi-directional electromagnetic metamaterial absorber (EMM) unit cell is proposed. This cell consists of a double layered E-LC structure sharing a common wide wire in between, whose operating bandwidth is broadened very significantly through the interaction of the magnetic resonance with high lossy substrate, and in which the incident electromagnetic waves along two opposite directions can be damped greatly in the operating frequency range because of its symmetric layout. Furthermore, the related simulations together with an automated phase correction (APC) algorithm to retrieve effective optical parameters of metamaterial media clearly show that this type of EMM absorber has a negative electric permittivity (NEP) as well as a very large imaginary part of the refractive index, and these properties are quite well suited to design excellent absorbers.
