THE FORMS OF LANGUAGE IN AUTOMATIC DISCOURSE ANALYSIS (1969-1983): THE LINGUISTIC HERITAGE OF MICHEL PECHEUX

The Discourse Analysis proposed by Michel Pecheux exercises itself on the double materiality of language (base) and discourse (process). However, there is a dissatisfaction, both from linguists and discourse analysts, concerning the supposed neglect of the linguistic aspect in AD. Thus, I intend to establish a reading path about the concept of "language" in the theoretical project of Michel Pecheux's Automatic Discourse Analysis (1969-1983) as a way to expose and defend its importance in the analyses and theoretical framework of contemporary Discourse Analysis. The path of this paper, therefore, begins with the discursive appropriation of the primacy of metaphor over meaning and value over signification, extending to its final reelaborations, in which the assumption that language is capable of revolt is formulated.
