摘要
This paper determines the amount of trihalomethanes (THMs) formed in water disinfected with a disinfectant produced in an electrolyzer and compares this with that produced in water disinfected with sodium hypochlorite. Research shows that using the disinfectant produced in the electrolyzer results in a potentially higher formation of THMs (approximately 30%) than when using sodium hypochlorite. The linear relation between the total THM concentration and the free chlorine content was observed in samples chlorinated with both disinfectants. The THM distribution was not different in samples chlorinated with both disinfectants, and mainly trichloromethane was formed.
