A Broadband and High-Gain Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna for Ka-Band Applications

摘要
A magneto-electric dipole (MED) antenna fed by substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) is proposed. It features broadband and high-gain and is suitable for Ka-band applications. The radiating structure consists of two symmetrically placed patches loaded with two metallic loops. Four L-shape parasitic patches are added to improve the radiation performance. Compared to traditional MED antennas whose profile is generally 0.25 lambda(g), the height of the radiation layer is 0.16 lambda(g)4, where lambda(g) is the wavelength in dielectric. The simulated vertical bar S-11 vertical bar < -10 dB impedance bandwidth reaches 43.8% (26.04 to 40.65 GHz), which completely covers Ka-band (26.5 to 40 GHz). The simulated gain has a maximum of 8.6 dBi at 37 GHz.
