Continuum modelling of sintering of powder compacts

摘要
During sintering of hard metal powders, significant shape changes may occur, mainly due to green density gradients induced by prior compaction. A macroscopic simulation of the sintering process can allow prediction of the final shape of the sintered part. To identify the constitutive model describing the mechanical behaviour of the material an experimental procedure is proposed which is based on shrinkage measurement during free sintering and sinter-forging tests. The data obtained with a mixture of tungsten carbide and cobalt powders are presented and discussed. To validate the modelling, the sintering of a rail has been simulated. Numerically obtained shape changes are shown and compared with the final characteristics of the real sintered part.
