CMOS RF mixer design - A noise cancellation approach

摘要
This paper presents a way of implementing the MOST Channels' Noise Current Cancellation Technique (NCCT) on a mixer for reducing its Noise Figure, generating a new mixer architecture (see fig.7) designed in a 0.18um RF CMOS UMC technology. The MOST Channel's Noise Current Cancellation Technique was first time presented in [9]. The noise figure performance of the new mixer architecture can be as low as 4.4dB@80MHz or if coils are used 1dB@80MHz noise figure can be reached. The conversion gain of such a mixer is higher than 20dB, the IP3 is -5dBm and the power consumption is smaller than 18mW at 1.8V power supply. All simulations for the new mixer architecture were made with SpectreRF.
