Distinctions between Sports Tourism, Leisure Sports and Outdoor Sports

Sports tourism, leisure sports and outdoor sports are three new directions of specialty cultivation, which have developed in recent years, as well as active explorations for deepening the reform of physical education in colleges and universities of our country. The study on the differences and similarities between the three directions helps us to understand the subtle differences between the three specialty fields more clearly and to enhance the purposefulness and effectiveness of teaching. Adopting methods of literature review, generalization and summarization as well as comparison, this paper carries out deep analysis on consistency and diversity of common and individual features demonstrated by psychological needs, behavioral motives, types of organization, contents of activities and time requirements, aiming to expand knowledge fields of specialty-oriented courses of sports tourism, leisure sports and outdoor sports, increase the amount of information of general-education courses, extend the range of caliber of talent cultivation and employment and in addition enhance specialized guidance purposefully and improve specialized skills of talents, according to unique features of different directions of study.
