The web-based environmental database

Danfoss Drives A/S has developed a database containing the material contribution for electronic devices. All components have been weighed and the weights are stored in the SAP software on the mainframe computer. Part lists for finished products are downloaded from SAP as input to the database. The database then gives the material content of a product as air output. There are also some report functions, among which is a function that is used for making disposal instructions for discarded products. The database can be accessed from the Danfoss Intranet allowing all Danfoss employees to view and print disposal instructions. This paper explains in detail the data format and structure of the enviromental database, along with possibilities for the future. Danfoss Drives has a lot of other ongoing activities concerning environment and EMAS, but they will not be mentioned in this paper.
