New themes in international social welfare: Introduction

This introductory article provides a brief overview of developments in international social welfare paying particular attention to the major themes which have characterized the field. If summarizes the new themes reflected in the contributions to the special issue, noting that they are indicative of future directions for international social welfare investigation.
