摘要：

Wavelet image compression continues to attract attention of researchers and developers alike, particularly for real-time applications. In this paper, we offer a new wavelet transform method through matrix manipulations. This new technique is faster and has greater potential in image compression. A coding method based on this new technique has also been devised and represented here. Experimental results show that the performance of this new approach of transform, combined with its coding scheme, surpasses both the traditional EZW coding and the coding schemes currently used in JPEG.
