Long-Term Economical Development of Production Assets Structure in Agriculture in Zemgale Planning Region

In agriculture long term production assets are classified in different ways. The authors of the paper have qualified them based on the use of these assets and long term perspective. The research includes only sustainable long-term investments like land, forest, buildings, machinery, equipment, and permanent crops. The structure of these assets in different size holdings of Latvia's most agricultural region Zemgale were studied for the period of 10 years. The results of the research show that there are great differences between farms in long-term investment structure. In commercial holdings and biggest farms machinery and equipment dominate, which thus ensure the increase of production quality and productivity. In small and very small farms the main asset is land alongside with low proportion of machinery and equipment.
