A NOVEL RESORCINOL DERIVATIVE FROM THE LEAVES OF Piper betle

摘要
A novel resorcinol derivative characterized as 1-n-heptadecanyloxyresorcinol (1) has been isolated from the chloroform extract of the leaves of Piper betle var. haldia. Isolation was performed using the chromatographic method, and the structure was established based on spectroscopic data. Evaluation of cytotoxic activity against human oral cancer cell lines (AW13516 and AW8507) was conducted using SRB assay. Compound 1 showed moderate cytotoxic activity with GI(50) values of 25.0 and 31.8 mu g.mL(-1), respectively.
