NHEED: An Energy-Efficient Multi-Hop Routing Protocol Based on HEED

摘要
In order to balance the energy consumption of the wireless sensor network(WSN), this paper studies the traditional routing protocol HEED, and proposed an inter-cluster multi-hop routing protocol NHEED ( A New kind of multi-hop routing protocol based on HEED). To process the isolate node product by HEED, the NHEED use a method add the isolate node to nearest cluster, which decrease the cluster head number and save the energy consumption. To select the optimal next hop of the multi-hop, the NHEED takes the residual energy of nodes and the distance of the multi-hop as the main factors to consider, which can forms an optimal path to sink node. The result of the simulation shows that, compared to HEED protocol, the NHEED can balance the energy consumption of the networks effectively and prolong the survival time of the networks by 49.8%.
