Receiver improvement for ultra-wideband transmitted-reference systems

摘要
The optimality of the cross-correlation receiver for ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitted-reference (TR) systems is first justified as the optimal linear combiner with a noisy reference. In light of the observation that combining all the available paths with a noisy reference may lead to inferior performance to that of combining just some of them, a weighted cross-correlation receiver is proposed based on the output detection signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) maximization. The similarity between this weighted cross-correlation receiver and that suggested by the average likelihood ratio test [6] is also addressed.
