South America - Currency and political woes pound regional markets

摘要：
The recent economic crisis in Argentina have put challenges for companies operating in South America. Argentina's devaluation has made the peso more on par with Brazil's currency, the real, which was also pegged to the dollar until January. Market turmoil has made it difficult for many companies to make investment plans in Brazil. Argentine's economic crisis has had a harsh effect on Chile's $3-billion/year chemicals sector, mainly due to the failure of Argentine companies to pay outstanding invoices.
