摘要：
This paper presents on overview of the use of a Cosserat continuum and its finite element analysis for deformation problems in geotechnical engineering. A Cosserat continuum is briefly described along with its development. Elastic constitutive relations are presented as well as a plasticity treatment with emphasis on the yield criterion. Then, a finite element formulation for a coupled problem is given with an example analysis.
