An experience report on teaching the personal software process

PSP has been taught by the author in the semesters of Spring 2001 and Spring 2002 to the graduate students in the Computer Science Department, North Carolina A&T State University (NCA&TSU). In this paper, the experiences from teaching Personal Software Process (PSP) in these two semesters are elaborated Though some of the benefits and difficulties-of applying PSP we found are similar to those found from other experiences, this paper provides specific information on the elements of the PSP that the students seem to have more difficulty with, and the factors that affect the performance of learning and applying PSP. We hope this specific information and the concrete lessons learned from our experiences will be helpful to other educators.
