FROM CREATIVE EVOLUTION TO TWO SOURCES: THE LAST BERGSON AND THE DISCOVERY OF MYSTICISM AS A METHOD IN PHILOSOPHY

Bergson sought to establish a new metaphysics, which would lead human beings to a deeper knowledge of themselves and the cosmos, and which in this process would found a new morality, as well as other epistemological categories that would transcend the violent instrumentalism of a world enslaved by an excessively Baconian science. In this article we intend to show how, at the end of his work and life, the religious theme emerges as a privileged field for the realization and understanding of the totality and essence of his project that refounded philosophy. From criticizing Jamesian pragmatism (as an excellent representative of the spirit of our time) to mystique as the only way out for human beings (transcending a geometric thought towards the thought of duration), Bergson draws on the horizon, still in an age blind to this questioning, the question of whether in fact, as an unsuspecting intelligence believes, religion has died as an active agent in Western intellectual dialogue.
