International Organizations and Good Governance: E-governance in India

This paper attempts to provide an overview of the concepts of good governance as formulated and transmitted by International Organizations and how this 'global language' of good governance is experienced and interpreted in a regional/local context to negotiate the asymmetries in the concerned culture. To explicate this broader them, e-governance practices in India has been taken as a tool to understand the governance reform agenda. This paper also calls for an understanding of the limitations of universal concepts while applied across culture and hints towards a transcultural study of governance.
