beta-alanine binds to uptake sites when using physiological concentrations of sodium

摘要
H-3-beta-Alanine binding was studied in Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate-buffered (KRB) medium, or the same medium made Na+-free (KRB-Na+). Even at low H-3-beta-alanine concentration, binding in the presence of sodium was inhibited by the beta-alanine uptake inhibitor arecaidine and by strychnine. The results indicate that beta-alanine binds to uptake sites when using media with physiological concentrations of sodium.
