Crack propagation in ductile polymers

摘要
The process of crack propagation in ductile polymers, including poly(arylate) and PU-PMMA blends, was studied. Variation in the crack length is described assuming that the polymer Row at the crack vertex obeys the model of tough (hard plastic) material. In the initial stationary stage of cracking, the apical pari of the crack has a wedge shape with a 90 degrees vertex angle and the crack length increases in proportion to the square deformation. The value of the crack opening is determined from a modified Dugdale-Barenblatt equation.
