The preparation of clinical laboratory accreditation in a local teaching hospital in China

Objective To establish and test a model system of clinical laboratory accreditation in China that will provide information on which a national system could be designed and based Materials and Methods To prepare setting up a quality system in the department of laboratory medicine of West China hospital where is the largest hospital (there are more than 3000 clinical beds) in China. Result Refreshed laboratory equipment, laboratory information system and standardization workflow are effective to improve laboratory service quality. Staff training is prerequisite for the implementation of laboratory standardization. The organization reformation is better for management and resource utilization. Conclusion Laboratory accreditation has far reaching importance for the establishment of quality systems (QS) and could address such problems as "test abuse".. inaccurate results and inefficient service.
