摘要：
The increasing consumer use of handhelds as ubiquitously accessible companions augmented with ever-increasing functions has paralleled a focus on research addressing novel applications for these devices and technology issues related to their design, implementation, and evaluation. In this issue, we look at the use of handhelds in three user-centric applications, describe research using scenarios to identify technological problems, and discuss a software support system that assists in the development of these complex, distributed systems.
