The Silicon Microstrip Tracker constitutes one of the key elements of the Dempty set upgrade, in order to fully exploit the physics potential of the Tevatron Run II. The tracker design is briefly overviewed before focusing on its readout system. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
