We study a material body made of thin and thick layers of two different elastic constituents, under the assumption that layers in the first family have almost vanishing thickness when compared with those in the second family. We consider a wave propagating through the layers and derive the consequences of our assumptions. A two dimensional case is studied and a particular explict solution is reported.
