A Contrast Study of Foreign and Chinese College English Teachers' Mediation Role in English Class

摘要
Based on Fuerstein's Mediated Learning Experience and other related theories, this study is conducted among teachers (Chinese teachers and foreign teachers) and students in college English classroom to exam their perceptions of the mediation theory. The comparative analysis was made between Chinese teachers" and foreign teachers' views of the importance of the mediation theory and usages of the mediation tools. And then students' comments on teachers" practice were also analysized. Analysis results indicate that bother Chinese teachers and foreign teachers acknowledge the importance of the mediation theory in college English class, but there is an obvious difference among their views and practices. And in practice both foreign teachers and Chinese teachers behave differently with their consciousness. Teachers' self-evaluations are also different from students' evaluations.
